Progress…
I am back from the Grand Canyon and back at the drawing board. I will post some canyon photos soon but for now I will continue with the progress on the latest drawing.
Sometimes after a lengthy layoff from working on a particular piece it can be difficult getting back into the rhythm of the drawing. But that was not the case this time. I was able to jump right back in and feel the drawing. You don’t hear about rhythm and feel so much when talking about creating art. For me anyway they are an important part of how I get through any particular piece.
On this piece I am slowly working in toward the focal point of the birds. Once I get there I will have to go back through the entire drawing and adjust values and tighten up or loosen up details as seems appropriate. Hopefully It will be done in the next day or two.
Sorry about the glare at the top center of the image. It actually gradates fairly evenly from left to right.

This is really looking good, Ray. Glad to see you’re back to work.
Hey Ray, I hope your canyon time was enjoyable, sounds like it. Can’t wait to see what might develop from your time there. I recently got out old slides of my canyon trip back in the …. dark ages, and keep thinking I need to use some of it. Maybe some day. Anyway, this piece of yours is coming along very well. I am excited to see you making use of more architectural devices as time passes and this particular image, composition, has all the bells and whistles as far as I am concerned, so far. I belive it is going to wind up being one of, if not ‘the’ favorite pieces of your work for me. Bravo! Maybe you have been listening to my endless chatter?
